FAQ

What kind of church are you? We are new church start up. We are affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America and we are an Acts 29 candidate church.  The EFCA is a denomination commited to gospel ministry and church planting. Acts 29 is a group of churches committed to planting more churches.

What do you believe? As a part of the Evangelical Free Church of America, we have a ten point statement of faith. You can read it here…

Basically, we are a Bible preaching church who loves San Francisco. We want to serve our king and love our city all at the same time. If you have any questions about our beliefs, Jon would love to take you to coffee and chat.

What’s the name about? Look, we know that nobody in San Francisco has a front porch. But still, we love the idea of the Porch: in a world of distraction and people hungering for community, the porch is where people spend time together. And that’s what we want: to encourage people to spend quality time together. To listen to one another. To really love each other.

Why start new churches? Aren’t there already too many? Check out this Tim Keller article. It’s amazing. He really gets into why we start new churches.

What should I expect on a Sunday? Our Sunday gatherings are about worshipping our King, Jesus. We are not the fanciest church. We are just a small group of regular people who come together to praise our king, study his word, and spend time together. If you would like to read more about our Sunday gatherings, head over to porchsf.com/sunday.

What should I wear on Sunday? John the Baptist wore a camel hair loin cloth and Jesus said he was the greatest guy of all time. So wear whatever you want. We ain’t fancy.

Where should I park? Street parking is usually free on Sundays, and there are a number of parking garages within a few blocks of our location.

Our location is also accessible by public transit. The Powell/Mason cable car, T-Third, as well as the 45, 30, 8, 12, 1, and 39 Muni lines have stops nearby.

What are missional families? Our church is about people and relationships. Our missional families are smaller groups that live life together. We spend time together. We eat together. We support and love each other. And we link arms as we love our city.
